Suit of Wands

I consider Tarot and Astrology, in a lot of ways, to be linked. Just as your birth chart can show who you are as a person, Tarot, I feel, is to help show you where you need to go. But, just as we can’t understand our natal charts without understanding the Houses, the Planets, and the Signs; we can’t understand Tarot without knowing the deck first.

To start, much like a traditional deck of cards there are four suits with numbered cards and higher ranking cards similar to Jacks, Kings, and Queens. These suits are referred to as the Minor Arcana. Unlike a traditional deck of cards, there is a fifth suit referred to as the Major Arcana and is made up of individual cards.

We’ll start with the Suit of Wands. Wands are the element of Fire and represent our goals, dreams, and creativity. In many ways, it’s like being Fire dominant. Lofty dreams and ambitions and not much follow through. Wands are our minds, the fledgling part of our needs, wants, and hopes. For these feelings to become actions and for our wants to become corporeal we need swords and pentacles, respectively. (I was going to mention balance again when I realized I write about balance pretty frequently. Which is odd, considering I don’t have strong Libra in my chart. Maybe because everything seems so unbalanced at the moment?)

Anyway, thanks for reading and let me know what you think in the comments. Bye!
